Interfering Substance

Samples showing evidence of hemolysis should not be used. Hemolysis may cause falsely decreased results. Inhibitors of alkaline phosphatase activity include: oxalates, Hg++, phenylalanine, and urea. Lipemic samples > 3+ should be ultra-centrifuged.
