Quality Assurance

An extensive quality assurance program is the backbone of both Cytology and Surgical Pathology Departments.

Cytology

DGL's full service Cytology Laboratory includes analysis of body fluids, fine needle aspirates, conventional Pap smears and ThinPrep® Pap smears. A dedicated team of cytotechnologists and pathologists are committed to providing accurate and timely results. Cytology reports may include up to eight of the most recent prior Pap smear reports, archived in DGL's computer system. Also a follow-up letter will be sent to physicians if a Pap showing high-grade dysplasia of HPV-related effect is not followed by a repeat Pap or cervical biopsy within six months.
